About Joseph C. Fisher

Joseph Fisher practices in the areas of commercial litigation, domestic relations, criminal, real estate and business. He received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and earned his J.D. from the Detroit College of Law. Mr. Fisher is a board member and president of the Northwest Education Services, a member of the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association, and serves as past chairman of the Elk Rapids Harbor Commission. Mr. Fisher served in the U.S. Army from 1967 – 1969 achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Mr. Fisher has been practicing law in northern Michigan since 1974. Mr. Fisher is well-versed in all aspects of criminal and civil litigation. For more than three decades, he has worked in the criminal justice system and has tried numerous cases to verdict. He draws on his extensive courtroom experience to represent his clients. His experience gives him the real-world know-how to advise clients throughout the litigation process. Mr. Fisher also concentrates his practice on family and domestic relations law, which includes routine and complex divorces, post-judgment matters, custody and parenting time disputes, pre and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, and dissolution of relationship matters, child support, paternity, change of domicile, adoption, and personal protection orders. Mr. Fisher takes a collaborative approach to partnering with his clients. He believes in working toward a mutually acceptable and early resolution whenever possible but is not afraid of “going to the mat” if circumstances so dictate.
